Mussel Investigation
On Friday we dissected mussels. We learned all about them and how they work. I learned so many new things about mussels that I didn't know about. We learned all about them for camp as it is coming up in a few weeks. On camp we are going to the Marlborough Sounds and we will be learning all about marine life. I learned that if you keep them still out of water they can sometimes open their shells and you can see the inside. I never knew that until we learned about them on Friday. I can't wait to learn more stuff at Mistletoe Bay! |

What's In The News This Week?
This week I found out that Elon Musk changed his baby's name from X Æ A-12 to X Æ A-Xii.
This is simply from the California law. "In California, you can only use the '26 characters' of the English language in your baby's name," "Thus, you can't have numbers, accents, umlauts, other symbols or emojis.
From this law Elon and Grimes had to change their baby's name.
Personally I think naming your child a name like this is absurd, what do you think?

Michael Jordan's shoes
Today in current events I found out that a pair of Michael Jordan's shoes sold at an auction for 943.000 dollars. I was shocked because they were really dirty. But I can understand how people would want them because they were signed by him. The sale took place on the same day as ESPN aired the finale of “The Last Dance,” a 10-part documentary about Jordan's career. The shoes were sold by Jordan Geller, a sneaker collector and the founder of the Shoezeum, a sneaker museum.
Personally I would not buy shoes for that much but maybe in the future my opinion will change.

Ancient Egypt
Today is the first day of working on Ancient Egypt. We didn't really learn anything yet because we had to find out the topic that we are doing with a puzzle.
First we got a cut out puzzle that we had to put back together. It was a boat, hippopotamus and a shrine. After we put them together we got a word scramble that we had to unscramble. The words were, temple, Africa, desert, archaeologist, snake, ancient, camel, and arid. Then on the back of the paper there was a word find that we had to find the words on there. After finding all the words we got a bunch of different maths questions and after doing the maths question we would hand them in and my teacher would put a letter on them. The letters were part of the topic that we where doing. After doing that we had to make the letters from the question into a word and that was our topic. That is how I found out my topic for this week.

Why I love New Zealand.
I've lived in five different countries including the United States, China, Thailand, Cambodia, and New Zealand. But, by far my favourite so far is New Zealand. The fallowing reasons that I love New Zealand are; It is beautiful, it's safe, and it feels like home.
I think NZ is the most beautiful place I've ever seen. I love how when it rains the sky is absolutely clear and there are no clouds. The ocean is bright blue and there are lots of fish. When ever I look up there are huge mountain that are snow capped.
New Zealand also feels very safe, I can go for a bike ride without feeling scared or worried. My friends and I can go down the street and hangout at the park and play for hours without worrying. I love to go to the trail walk and pet all the dogs we see on the way. NZ is one of the safest places.
I love how New Zealand is like a home to me. Out of all the places I've been to, NZ feels most like home. I think this because the majority of my life I have been in places that were not my language, because I understand what everybody is saying around me, I feel more comfortable.

What's in the news this week?
This week we had to do an weekly quiz, in the quiz we had a lot of questions that we had to answer without looking them up. After we did the quiz we had to look into one of the questions and then make a blog post out of it.
My current event was that they have found a tiny dinosaur fossil . It was found at the amber fossil site. The little bird was named Oculudentavis khaungraae.
Scientist say the bird like creature was the size as a humming bird. but it has fangs. As the beak was seven millimetres long and so was the skull they think it is the smallest dinosaur ever found. I think the little bird maybe of been a unborn bird from a historical bird or a bird that was born but shortly after died. What do you think?

We will have a certain class for the term then we will switch classes to a different subject. This term I have computer tech or just tech. For tech we are making games in a group of four.
